Top reasons to watch Trisha's Mohini

We analyze the major reasons to watch Trisha's Mohini

1. Trisha is returning to Tamil cinema screens after almost 2 years and in her career spanning over 16 years, this is the first time she is doing a double role – playing a chef ‘Vaishnavi’ & the ghost ‘Mohini’. It would be interesting to watch her perform in two different roles with contrasting characteristics in the same movie.

Vaishnavi - The Chef
Mohini - The Ghost

2. Almost 85-90% of the movie has been shot in London. Major portion involves VFX, work done by visual effects experts from London based studios who have worked in Harry potter movies. The movie was in post-production for more than a year to get the visual effects right. It will be a visual treat to the audience. The team also has given lot of attention to audio effects with a separate sound script.

3. Mohini comes in the Comedy + Horror thriller genre, which provides a wholesome entertainment to the family audience. The movie has been certified with a clean ‘U’. It also carries a social message against child abuse.

4. Trisha has for the first time performed risky stunts, predominantly in the second half involving Mohini character. The movie involves underwater sequences, high octane stunt sequences performed by Trisha without a body double.

5. The movie is a supernatural thriller. The story introduces new element called ‘Epigenetics’ theory to the audience. Mohini is backed by a strong technical team and music by duo Vivek-Mervin whose songs have already been topping the charts. Director of the movie R Madhesh has worked previously as creative director in Super star Rajnikanth’s animation movie Kochadaiyan.

#Mohini is releasing this Friday, 27th July Worldwide (TN, Andhra, Kerala, Karnataka, USA, Singapore & Malaysia, UAE etc.,) in more than 1000 screens, the first time for a movie with a female lead from South India. Go watch in theaters near you.

Graceful at 60 - Happy B'day Uma Krishnan

Uma Krishnan, born on 2nd July 1956 & turning 60 today, is popularly known as mother of famous South Indian actor Trisha Krishnan

She comes from a family that strongly believes in woman power, imbibing the strong traits from her mother Saradha. She is a doting daughter, a caring sister and a wonderful friend. Above all, she has been the best mother that every daughter would crave for. She dedicated her life in shaping Trisha's career right from day 1, quitting her corporate job and ably manages her daughter's professional commitments as well as holding the home fortress stronger.

Uma with Trisha as a kid, teen and now

If Trisha is known as someone who always voices for the cause of animals in the society, that is a quality that she ingested from her mother. Uma is equally sensitive towards animals, gave Trisha a congenial environment at home while she was growing to develop the benevolence towards them. Pets are always treated as a family member.

Pic says it all... The Krishnan's Zorro, Uma, Trisha & Zoya - B'day celebration at home

At the same time, Uma is a non-starry star mom. She is silent, and has refused any spotlight that comes her way. She has even refused few offers to star in the movies to concentrate on her daughter's career. Only on one occasion she broke the jinx and agreed to co-star in a TVC along with Trisha for basmati rice brand - Kohinoor  directed by A.L. Vijay, but again as Trisha's mother in front of the camera :)

She has been the strongest support system of Trisha, always holding her back through success and more importantly the toughest of the times.

"I have only one daughter and she means the world to me. Our bonding is strong as ever because both of us work constantly to keep it that way by being honest with each other. There is nothing on this earth that I wouldn't do to keep her happy"

Always holding Trisha's back, being the wind behind her daughter's wings

Trisha: "The best thing I have learned from mom is never to flinch when a tough situation arises but to face it, fight it and sail through with a lot of strength and courage"

One can feel how proud mother she can be in this video, where she talks about Trisha being featured along with yesteryear super stars Saroja Devi and Khusboo in jfW magazine's 5th anniversary issue

A person who believes in aging gracefully, she credits her beauty secret to being fit and active physically and mentally.

Wishing her a wonderful and healthy year ahead!!

2015 for Trisha

2015 for Trisha

A detailed look at the year 2015 for Trisha - her movies, awards & recognition, brand endorsements, events that she participated, involvement with various social causes & on her personal front.

Movies

In 2015, Trisha had 6 movie releases - Tamil (4) & Telugu (2), next highest to her 7 releases in 2008 & equaling 6 each in 2003, 2005 & 2006.

The list of movies in 2015 and their release dates:

1. Yennai Arindhaal – Feb 5, 2015
2.  Lion – May 14, 2015
3.  Sakalakalavallavan – July 31, 2015
4.  Thoongaavanam – Nov 10, 2015
5.  Cheekati Raajyam – Nov 20, 2015
6.  Bhooloham – Dec 24, 2015

Yennai Arindhaal with Ajith, directed by Gautham Menon was a huge hit and her character Hemanika was very well received by the audience and critics. The movie completed 50 successful days at the box office.

Dilani Rabindran of Behindwoods.com quotes "There may be no better 21st century director/actress collaboration than Gautham Menon and the timeless Trisha. He writes female leads that are of substance that would naturally come across as ethereally beautiful played by any lovely actress, but Trisha’s grace and acting talent bring something memorable to those roles. After longing for the unforgettable Jessie of VTV for years we were blessed with her Hemanika"

Lion with Balakrishna was her come back movie to Telugu after a long gap of 3 years & Sakalakalavallavan, a full length comedy with Jayam Ravi, after their successful combo in Unakkum Enakkum – both the movies couldn’t make it big at the box office.

Thoongaavanam & Cheekati Raajyam marked a special place in Trisha’s career, her 50th movie in 13 years. Trisha played a cop for the first time in her career and pulled of some tough stunts with ease. Her stunt sequence with Kamal Hassan (with whom she is pairing for the second time) in the kitchen is one of the most talked about stunts performed by an actress in the recent times). The movie, a Diwali release got very good appreciation from the audience and critics for its performances, making & technical aspects and declared a hit by the trade. The movie also completed 50 days on 29th December

Bhooloham, her 2nd time pairing with Jayam Ravi was lying in the cans for couple of years after completion, but got a surprise release for Christmas weekend there by ending the year on a high note for Trisha. The movie opened to good reviews & good collections in its opening weekend.

Trisha also completed 13 years in the industry on 13th December, a rare feat for an actress. She also dubbed for her role in Thoongaavanam.

Personal

“2015 has been my year of self-realization” quotes Trisha.

In an interview to Lata Srinivasan, she sums up her 2015 as

"Professionally, it’s been very good and I have been satisfied with the kind of work I am doing. Personally, there’s been some ups and downs but it has been a year of self-realisation and it taught me a lot. I feel I have become wiser and grown over a year!"

After her broken engagement with businessman turned producer Varun Manian earlier in 2015, she came back stronger with back to back movies and let her entire concentration towards her work. She is going very stronger for an actress with 13 years of film journey with 6 films releasing this year and many more interesting projects committed in 2016.
She brought in her birthday on May 4th with her close friends in Bangkok. And after a very hectic working year, she went on a long holiday in US spending time in some of the dream destinations like Las Vegas, Napa Valley, skiing at Lake Tahoe & she will be bringing in the new year at San Francisco.
